Empowering women through education and meaningful conversations about money

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), a landmark legislation that finally granted women the right to access credit independently, we are reminded of how far we’ve come—and how far we still have to go. To honor this significant milestone and foster healthier relationships between women and money, we are thrilled to introduce Wealth of a Woman, a grassroots storytelling initiative designed to empower and inspire women everywhere through hand-crafted resources for women to explore their relationships with money.

Wealth of a Woman was co-founded by the two of us—Teresa J.W. Bailey and Lauren Reed Williams—with a shared mission:

To empower women through education and meaningful conversations about money.

Our movement begins this fall, marking the 50th anniversary of the ECOA, a time when women were finally able to obtain credit in their own names, free from being considered their husband’s property. Side note: can you believe that was only 50 years ago?! Our inaugural education initiative is a free, six-lesson online course designed to help women explore and redefine their relationships with money. We have an ambitious goal: to reach 50,000 downloads in our first year.

To help spread the word, we’re launching the “Bring Back the Dinner Party—But Make It Taboo” campaign in collaboration with StyleBlueprint, where we’ll be providing free Dinner Party Kits, complete with conversation starters and hosting tips.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Together, let’s create a future where women feel empowered, confident, and in control of their financial destinies.

After all, we deserve it.
